Budget 2018: Pakatan is being childish

Raja Sara Petra

Before Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak can even finish tabling Budget 2018 in Parliament yesterday and the opposition was already screaming that the budget was ‘stolen’ from Pakatan Harapan and that it is an election budget and so on. If Budget 2018 was stolen from Pakatan that can only mean it is as good as Pakatan’s so-called ‘alternative budget’. In that case why are they still complaining? Would that not mean Pakatan is criticising its own so-called ‘alternative budget’?

Pakatan claims it will abolish the GST if it comes to power. That will cost the nation RM25 billion in income. Then they said they will offset that loss by saving RM20 billion on wastage in government spending and corruption. How did they come to that figure? Was it from the MACC? It suspiciously looks like they plucked that figure of RM20 billion from the air just to fool the rakyat into believing that abolishing the GST will not hurt the country or the economy.

What is even more comical is the opposition says they will abolish the 6% GST and bring back the Sales and Service Tax (SST), which is more than double the 6% GST. Pakatan should stop its con-men policies and get down to reality. You just cannot run the country with no money and to say that your income is going to come from savings is a joke because you first need money to save money. You cannot save money when you have no money. Which part of zero times zero equals zero does Pakatan not understand?
